How To Use PlayWeights In Reality For Occupational Therapy

The In Your Pocket™ PlayWeights™, the first of its kind, is a unique dress-up play outfit designed to involve children (ages 2-12) in understanding their sensory processing and motor planning. PlayWeights™ is a functional way to address needs in proprioceptive feedback, spatial awareness, deep pressure, posture, balance, muscle strength/control, dorsal proprioception, gross motor skill planning and development while fostering imaginative play and social skills.

  • Designed for parents, therapists and teachers that want to have a therapeutic item in a non-therapeutic setting such as in the home, in the classroom or at social events (Birthday Parties, Halloween).

  • Don't wait to use the garment when it's a crisis. Create a habit of putting on the garment and allowing the child to move around in it before placing the child in a stimulating atmosphere. Good results are seen when the garment is used as part of an activity such as recess, at the store or at church.

  • Time limitations don't always matter; some children may find the deep pressure and proprioceptive input to help with body awareness issues.

Use according to each individual child's needs. Remember - this is a non-invasive therapeutic opportunity. Have Fun!
